How does ClearOut Plus IGR Dust Insecticide work?

20g/kg Permethrin ensures a quick knockdown to any insects that come in contact with ClearOut Plus IGR. Permethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide that works by affecting the nervous system of insects. It works by binding to the voltage-gated sodium channels in the nerve cells of insects, which leads to a rapid influx of sodium ions into the cell. This causes the nerve cells to become overstimulated and leads to paralysis and death of the insect. Permethrin is a broad-spectrum insecticide, meaning that it is effective against a wide range of insect pests, including Cockroaches, Ants, Fleas, Termites, Bedbugs, European Wasps, Spiders and other insects.

The longevity of ClearOut Plus IGR Dust Insecticide is extended by adding in 2g/kg of Pyriproxyfen, an insect growth regulator (IGR) that is used to control a wide variety of insect pests. It works by mimicking the juvenile hormone of insects, which prevents them from developing into adults. This means that while adult insects are not affected by pyriproxyfen, it will prevent eggs and immature insects from developing properly and reproducing. Over time, it provides a selective but inevitable population decline of target pests because immature insects cannot reproduce thus breaking the breeding cycle.
