Distance Plus Granular Ant Bait is a high-performance ant control solution designed to eliminate entire colonies, including the queen, for long-term, reliable results. While many ant treatments only kill foraging workers and allow the infestation to return, Distance Plus stops the colony at its source using a unique insect growth regulator (IGR) mode of action. This makes it one of the most effective and safest options for controlling a wide range of nuisance, invasive and tramp ant species.
Features & Benefits of Distance Plus Granular Ant Bait 4kg
- Kills the queen for complete, long-lasting colony control
- Broad-spectrum performance against nuisance, invasive and tramp ant species
- Granular formulation for precise and discreet application
- Outstanding safety profile—no effect on vertebrates
- Only ant bait registered for cropping use
- Used in major Australian Government ant control programs
- Ideal for domestic, commercial, environmental and agricultural settings
- Reliable performance in sensitive areas where other ant products cannot be used
Why Choose Distance Plus Ant Bait?
Many ant products fail because they don’t affect the queen, allowing the colony to quickly rebuild. Distance Plus works differently. Foraging ants collect the bait granules and distribute them throughout the nest, feeding the queen and brood. The active ingredient, Pyriproxyfen (5 g/kg), disrupts reproduction and prevents the queen from laying viable eggs.
No new eggs means no new workers—leading to the collapse of the colony and long-term protection.
How Distance Plus Ant Bait Works
- Contains Pyriproxyfen, a juvenile hormone mimic that interrupts ant fertility and development.
- Workers carry bait granules and the oil matrix back to the nest, feeding larvae, workers and reproductive adults.
- Larvae process the bait and distribute it as liquid food throughout the colony.
- Reproductive organs degenerate, egg production stops, and worker numbers decline.
- Substantial colony decline is seen in 3–4 weeks, with majority colony elimination by 8 weeks.
- This targeted mode of action eliminates the entire colony, not just surface activity.
Where Can Distance Plus Ant Bait Be Used?
Thanks to its excellent safety and environmental profile, Distance Plus is suitable for almost any environment:
- Domestic areas
- Commercial sites
- Environmental management programs
- Agricultural situations
- Cropping (the only ant bait registered for cropping use)
- Safe for use around livestock, including cattle, sheep, pigs and horses
Because it has no impact on vertebrates, Distance Plus holds an unscheduled poison classification and is widely used in Australian Government programs to control Red Imported Fire Ants and Yellow Crazy Ants.
What Ant Species does Distance Plus Control?
Distance Plus provides broad-spectrum control against a wide range of pest ants, including:
- Red Imported Fire Ant (Solenopsis invicta)
- Tropical Fire Ant (Solenopsis geminata)
- Bigheaded / Coastal Brown Ant (Pheidole spp.)
- Yellow Crazy Ant (Anoplolepis gracilipes)
